NYSE Jobs Announcement
Jimmy Spratt, DUP Assembly Member for South Belfast has said that the New York Stock Exchange announcement of plans to open a technology service centre in Belfast, with up to 400 jobs is a vote of confidence in Northern Ireland. It is reported that the centre will be located in Adelaide Exchange in Mr. Spratt’s constituency. Speaking today Jimmy Spratt MLA said:
“Investors make decisions as to where they put their money based on cold, calculated considerations. Money is invested in order to secure a healthy return. That a company of the calibre of the New York Stock Exchange should have chosen Northern Ireland as a suitable business location is a massive vote of confidence in our Province. They have obviously taken a look at Northern Ireland and liked what they saw. The New York Stock Exchange has recognised that Northern Ireland is a good place in which to do business.
Announcements such as this provide a welcome fillip to the local economy. I am pleased at the role which the devolved administration has played in this announcement. I know that work has been on-going on securing this announcement since the North American Investment Conference. Today’s announcement demonstrates the value of having a local economy minister to go out and fight to secure such investment.”
