Spratt comments on proposed stadium at Ormeau Park

 

I am concerned that Belfast City Council’s consultants have indicated that Ormeau Park is the most favourable site to build a new multi-sports stadium. They have clearly not considered the obvious fact that thousands of people would converge on the area on a regular basis causing severe traffic and parking problems. City-dwellers also value their parks for recreation and if a stadium is built at Ormeau this would be lost.  I will be campaigning vigorously against any plan to site a stadium at Ormeau and will fight to preserve this green space for local residents.
