Spratt meets NI Ambulance Service Chief Executive

South Belfast DUP MLA Jimmy Spratt has met with the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, Mr Liam McIvor, to discuss ambulance service provision in the South Belfast area. Mr Spratt requested the meeting following concerns where raised about possible cuts to ambulance cover.

Commenting after the meeting at NIAS headquarters at Knockbracken, Mr Spratt said:

‘The Chief Executive gave an unequivocal assurance that ambulance cover is not to be reduced in the area and I welcome this commitment on behalf of the people of South Belfast.

The ambulance service provides a vital service in dealing with life or death situations. It is imperative therefore that we have sufficient ambulances and emergency response vehicles available to meet need in South Belfast. Furthermore, it is important that staff are assured that the services they provide are not subject to reduction.

The health and wellbeing of the South Belfast population is a priority and as such I will continue to raise concerns about health provision if and when they arise, irrespective of any annoyance it might cause the Minister.’
